Shane - My Cuz

Shane was my cousin first. . . Actually he is my mother's cousin but since we were the same age he's mine. My first memory of Shane was when my parents were building our house in Littlefield. I was 4. Shane was probably 5. Uncle Nephi had come up to help my grandpa work on our house and Shane had come too. We spent the day playing in my grandma's yard and having 4/5 year old fun. Probably making messes and getting in the way. That I don't remember too much. I do remember walking up to our house to see what was going on. On the way up the hill Shane asked me to marry him. I thought about it for a second and replied with something like, "I am not going to get married for a long time and wouldn't it be weird since we are cousins." I am sure that he wasn't too crushed because I know he moved on quickly. How many girls did he ask before kindergarten was over? And who wants to admit that Shane was their first kiss? Yuk, not mine. . . He was my cousin and I don't care about kissin' cousins that was just weird.

  1. I remember being 5 or 6 and that would make Shane 4 or 5... My Grandpa Omer used to go down to shoot the breeze or help Uncle Neph with something... I would be so excited because that meant that I got to go down and play Trucks with Shane and sometimes Gary (PUTT) Biasi... Uncle Neph had the most awesome set up... We ran big Tonka Trucks.. Dumpers, Loaders, Blades.. anything that Uncle Neph had we had miniatures of.. It was some of the best times of my young life just tooling around doing work... I will miss his big smile and sweet tender heart... My mom called him " Shane,Shane the cat killer" Not because he was ever mean to a cat but because he would pick the kittens up and just SQUEEZE them till it looked like their eyes would pop out... He was a great cousin and an even better friend...
